Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account, signing in, or using the VerbaLearn apps at app.verbalearn.app, on iOS, or on iPadOS (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Your account

Sign-in is federated through Apple or Google. You are responsible for maintaining access to the underlying Apple or Google account. We cannot restore access if you lose it at the provider.

You may not share your account, create accounts on behalf of others without authorization, or circumvent sign-in.

3. Your content

You retain all rights in the notes, strokes, files, recordings, and other content you create in the Service. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, back up, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the purge schedule in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for the content you create and are solely liable for any copyright, trademark, or other third-party claims arising from it.

4. AI features

AI-generated output (flashcards, summaries, transcripts) is provided "as is" and may contain errors. Verify anything you rely on. You are responsible for how you use AI output. We do not guarantee that AI output will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

5. Subscriptions and billing

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the interval you selected until you cancel. Cancel through Settings → Subscription, the App Store, Google Play, or the Stripe customer portal — whichever you used to subscribe.

Refunds on the web are handled through Stripe. In-app purchase refunds are handled by Apple or Google per their policies; we cannot issue refunds on their behalf.

If a payment fails, we give you a grace window (typically 72 hours) before revoking premium entitlements. After revocation your account reverts to the free tier and your content remains intact.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to upload malicious code, content that is illegal where you live, or content that infringes others' rights.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract data from other users' accounts.
  • Attempt to probe, scan, or disrupt the Service or bypass entitlement checks.
  • Use AI features to generate content that violates Apple App Store, Google Play, or Anthropic policies.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Our intellectual property

VerbaLearn, the apps, the website, and all software, graphics, and text we create are our intellectual property. Using the Service does not transfer any of those rights to you. You may not remove trademarks, logos, or copyright notices.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. We may terminate or suspend access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if continued operation would compromise the Service for other users. On termination, the data purge described in our Privacy Policy applies.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST DATA, EVEN IF FOREWARNED.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which VerbaLearn is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that jurisdiction for any dispute, subject to your non-waivable consumer-protection rights.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will notify you by email and in-app notice at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance.
